Travel

For anyone visiting the workshop for a new instrument or for one of my courses, travel and accommodation info is listed below.

Llanidloes is a pretty little town set in the heart of Mid Wales and is the first town on the river Severn. It boasts some interesting timber framed architecture and a varied array of shops, cafes and pubs. It is a wonderful area to explore with wonderful mountain scenery all around and some stunning coastline half an hour away. Here are some links to useful websites :

By air

Many flights will come into airports in the South East UK – Heathrow/Gatwick/Stanstead/Luton. You may be able to get flights to Bristol, Birmingham or Manchester which are closer. From there take the train as instructed below or come by car.

By car

There are a number of routes to take depending on your location. Many will come in either from the East and so you will come via Shrewsbury/Welshpool/Newtown. Or from the South East via M4 Severn Bridge/Abergavenny/Builth Wells/Rhayader. There are also other routes from the East via Hereford through to Rhayader. Once in Wales, the roads are pretty fast although the route from Shrewsbury can be slow in the daytime.

By train

You will need to take the train to Shrewsbury and change for a small station at Caersws on the line to Machynlleth. There are buses into Llanidloes from there or I can arrange to pick you up. Caersws is about 10 minutes drive from Llanidloes.
