Richard has made two mandolins for me. The first was a flatback, made in 2002. It is a lively instrument, with a bright and strong sound. The second was a carved top and carved back instrument, made in 2006. This combines good sustain with a mellow tone, but still gives a strong sound which carries well when playing in large ensembles. Both instruments are a joy to play!
