Notes This mando"baby"bass was a one off custom order for the bass player of the Brighton Mandolin Orchestra and was built to be played sitting down and with the thumb tucked under the fingerboard (double bass style). It is basically a large upright acoustic bass guitar offering greater volume and depth, enough to cut through a number of acoustic instruments for ensemble work. The owner uses it without a pickup with about twenty other plucked stringed instruments.
The top was an arched flat top but I would certainly look at carving a top for this model. |
